eir Race 2016 - Let the Games Begin!
Registration is officially open for eir Race 2016 and we need you!
Last year more than 280 people joined our team, runners, joggers and walkers; this year we aim to beat that. Instead of competing in the Great Limerick Run in May, we’re going to Kilkenny. The Tullaroan Marathon will take place on Saturday June 4th, in a country setting about 20 minutes from Kilkenny city. The event is open to all in eir and participants can choose the distance that best suits them. Options are a 5km walk, a 10km run or a half marathon or full marathon for the brave amongst us.
Competition between business areas is fierce; but all are united by the common goal of taking down the reigning champions, Wholesale. eir Business are a hot favourite for the win in 2016. They were narrowly beaten last year so their preparations began early. Rumour has it that strategy meetings and motivational speeches are a now daily occurrence. Meanwhile the Customer Operations team are signing strong athletes into binding contracts to prevent poaching and team moves. Wholesale has demanded that those contracts are reviewed by the legal team.
This eir Race app provides you with everything you need to know about this years campaign. Teams are judged, not only on training kilometres logged via the app, distance covered on the day, but also on funds raised for our charity partner Special Olympics Ireland. As in previous years eir will cover the cost of your race registration and the post-race reception, food and drinks with a party in the evening.
This year the goal is:
· A team of 300 eir Racers
· The fundraising target is €100 per person, equating to €30,000 for our charity partner Special Olympics Ireland
· Beat our training distances – last year we logged almost 22,000kms on the race app, this year we want to beat that
Download the app today to begin participating in training, receive diet and training advice and use the app to help achieve our goals and help fundraise for Special Olympics Ireland.
